Corona news for all our members!

Corona news for all our members!

In addition to offering online courses, InTension Health Club has spent the past two weeks working on the question of what to do about member fees for the coming time. After considering all the government advice and consulting legal specialists we have come to a decision. In this newsflash we would like to inform you about what InTension Health Club has decided to do regarding the membership fees.

Since the situation is complex for both members and InTension Health Club, we will first briefly explain our viewpoint:

  • It is unclear whether the consumer (member) has the right to cancel and / or the right to any compensation.

  • It is also unclear whether a sports center is entitled to compensation measures from the government in case of Force Majeur. Even in this case only employee wages are partly reimburse (which is only a small part of all costs that our sports center has).  The financial loss will be considerable for us with all the other challenges at hand.

  • What is obvious for both parties however is that this is an incredibly unfortunate situation that we all hope passes as soon as possible.

  • It is also understandable that members are reacting very differently to the situation. The reactions vary from a heartwarming “I’ll keep paying my fees, we support you!” to ” please terminate the membership due to the temporary closure”. We sympathize with every response because we cannot and do not want to make assumptions about anyone’s financial situation. But we appreciate your understanding and loyalty to the sports center because we are looking forward to starting back up again with all of you by our side!

We want to be guided by reason and transparency, and based on the issues raised above we have therefore decided to apply a 50% discount on all membership fees from April 1st 2020 and will continue to apply this discount until the first month that we open. This means that from April 1st 2020 all the direct debits will be half of the normal amount. We will then deposit the money on your club card. This can then be used for drinks, smoothies, sandwiches, solarium etc when we are open again. You can also use it to upgrade your membership (temporarily) to “fitness plus and group lessons”, which is € 10 more per month. In other words:

Starting April 1st you will not pay anything for your sportmembership until we open our doors again! We will transfer the amount that we debit (= 50 % of your regular monthly fee) on your club card. You can use this amount to buy refreshments etc at our bar/ reception when we are open again.

NB: Among the members who have already unsubscribed by 30/04/20 or who choose to cancel the membership (with a one full calendar month of notice) in the next period, however, will be collected the full monthly fee.

We hope these measures will encourage as few members as possible to terminate their membership and remain loyal to our gym! We need each other to survive in this situation, so we are very grateful for this. As a token of our appreciation, we are offering you ‘FitSnacks.TV’ for free. This service provides you with the opportunity to remain engaged in sports, health and lifestyle at any time of the day, wherever you are. We also add daily workouts to our facebook page, the so-called ‘Work Out of the Day’ (WOD). Check it out!

We are all in this exceptional situation together and (fortunately) no one has ever experienced this before. Together we will overcome this.  In the meantime we appreciate your patience, understanding and loyalty. We miss you and look forward to seeing you again in your and our club. This too shall pass!

Wishing you all strength over the coming period. Take care of yourself and each other!

Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. (Jim Rohn.)

Warm regards,
